I didn’t build AutoAssistAI from a laptop in a coffee shop. I built it inside an auto repair shop. Growing up, I worked in my dad’s auto repair business. I was in the bays, turning wrenches, diagnosing cars, and trying to stay focused on the job in front of me. But there was one constant problem… The phone never stopped ringing. It didn’t matter if we were buried in engine work, timing jobs, diagnostics, or dealing with customers at the front counter — the phone kept ringing. Every time it rang, one of two things would happen

• A technician would have to stop mid-repair, wipe their hands, and run to answer it.

• Or the call would go unanswered.

Both were costing the shop money. When techs leave a job to answer the phone, efficiency drops. Flat-rate hours get disrupted. Focus breaks. Mistakes happen. When calls go unanswered? That’s lost revenue walking straight to the next shop down the street. I started noticing something: Missed calls weren’t just missed calls. They were missed repair orders, Missed inspections, Missed long-term customers. That’s when I realized the problem wasn’t the shop it was the system. Auto repair shops are built to fix cars, not manage nonstop incoming calls.

So I built a solution.
